About

From completing an apprenticeship, dealing with life challengers and a battle with cancer. The founder and director of JS Plastering Mildura truly knows how tough it is to build a successful award winning business.

- Starting an apprenticeship in late 1998, leaving it in 2000 then returning in 2005 to complete it 2007 Jon learnt a lot of the wall and ceiling trade, enough to venture on his own as a subcontractor.

- 2009 Jon grew a hunger to be a contractor himself where he could be truly recognized for the skills he possessed and formed JB & Sons Plastering.

- 2012 Unfortunately due to mis managing the business and some builders he delt with were not paying or slow at paying the business was not viable or making profit and decided to go back to wages with a local plastering company.

- 2014 had a rough patch going through a life mishap, quitting the job with the plastering company, and going through a complete emotional and mental breakdown. A few months later an opportunity to fire up contracting arises, and JS Plastering Mildura was formed.

- 2016 Jon was diagnosed with stage 3 bowel cancer. He had no choice but to shut down again to fight it.

- 2018 After struggling with bills from not working he decided to give it another go and announced the return of JS Plastering Mildura. First it was tough getting back in it after not working the trade to fight cancer, but soon after he had acquired some of his old clients and built new business relationships with new clients.

- 2020 dealing with and injured elbow Jon was limited to the work that he can do, but he never wanted to shut down after the fight he had to get where he is and then started looking to expand the business and employ. He had a subcontractor that helped with jobs but he wasn't quite what the business needed and kept the channels open. later JS Plastering had their first qualified tradesman on the books.

- 2021 Covid 19 has starting to get bad and JS Plastering Mildura had employed an apprentice, it was also in this year the business had broaden its scope to more commercial and acquired the first government contract and a shop fit out.

- 2022 Dealing with the challenges of Covid -19 JS Plastering Mildura was growing strong and was awarded APAC Insider Magazine's Australian Enterprise Award, Plasterer of the year Northwest Victoria 2022.

- 2023 Was a big year, the business was awarded the APAC Insider Magazine's Australian Enterprise Award, Plasterer of the year Northwest Victoria 2023 for our efforts on the challenges with Covid - 19, Also was awarded a nationally recognised award, Australian Small Business Trades Champion Awards Plasterer Champion 2023. JS Plastering had also completed a large commercial projects and began their biggest commercial job ever to date. A huge childcare centre. Later in 2023 the business became part of a newly formed company trust JJ'z Group Pty Ltd.

- 2024 The big childcare centre project was completed and the company had been contracted to complete a mansion valued at $4 Million this was to be the biggest house ever to be completed

- 2025 Starting slow things were looking dyre with price increases making it hard to land jobs, and wage increases. The company is still active with a big office fitout, and 2 big mansion like houses on the go.
